FlatFish Package Instructions F-2 to F-6
FlatFish is a shallow diving plug designed to catch a wide variety of game fish, with
trout and panfish topping the list. This lure produces a wide, strike-producing
wiggle when trolled or reeled at slow speed - slow is good with FlatFish. For best
result, tie your line to the round-eyed connector snap or figure-eight eyelet provided
with lure. A barrel swivel can relieve line twist associated with spinning reel use
and should be placed from 24-to-36 inches ahead of lure.
Trout: When and where lake water temperatures are cool or during low light
periods, FlatFish can be trolled on a flat line (no weight added) near the surface. As
lake temperatures rise or during sunny conditions, which can drive trout down, add
weight (split shot or trolling sinker) 24-to-36 inches ahead of lure. Leaded line, with
6-foot monofilament or fluorocarbon leader, can also be used to take FlatFish to
fish-holding level while trolling.
Panfish: FlatFish works for panfish too. Try trolling or casting with or without
weight depending where fish are holding. Unlike trout, warm water specie become
active when waters warm and may be found near the lake surface.
FlatFish can be cast cross current and allowed to swing through fish-holding water.
To add casting weight, crimp a split shot on line 18-to-24 inches ahead of lure.
ADD SCENT OR TIP FLATFISH
You can make FlatFish even more effective by adding scent to your lure or tipping
one prong of treble hook with maggot, small section of leech or worm. Prepared
baits work for tipping too.
FlatFish: Available in 15 sizes ranging from 1 to 6 inches.
